BBC iPlayer does it too. Usually about 10 minutes before the end of the program.

"Dr. Edward de Bono is widely regarded as one of the foremost experts in the fields of creativity and Lateral thinking. Dr. de Bono was the first person to propose that the human brain is a self organising system. It was from this understanding that he had for the underlying principles that he developed his thinking tools and creativity methods that have helped people and organisations revolutionize their thinking by bypassing the normal thought-blocks that impede their everyday thinking."

Does he pre-date old Siddhartha aka The Buddha?

I'm pretty sure that for millennia Buddhists and Hindus have known and taught that the human mind contains mental blocks and bad habits that can be trained out using various thought exercises.

Back in my younger days, when Buddha, Confucius and myself studied under Lao-Tze, we used to discuss the possibilities of being able to think in less than traditional ways. :old:

In modern times Edward sharpened up the ideas and called it 'Lateral Thinking' and I was privileged to be able to chat to him about. :blue thumb: The first paragraph may have been a slight exaggeration! :noidea:

I like the tale of one of Siddhartha's first attempts at achieving enlightenment, when according to the tale, he failed, but I think of it as at least a partial success.

Conventional thinking at the time was that you have to suffer extreme hardship to clear the mind, so he vowed to live for a while on nothing but a single grainof rice and a sip of water per day. After a few days, starving andparched, he gave up. He then declared that you can't become enlightened if you're too hungry to think. That sounds pretty enlightened to me:)
