Heres 2 more for the list due to uncontrolled human trafficking in the UK today.

    Domestic slaves
    Forced sex workers

Makes you so proud to be British doesnt it ? :frown:

The people of England really need to press the reset button and change their country from the bottom up creating a new political party that is Uk people (black white & brown) focussed rather than city of london focussed.

That just shows we`re moving back to the victorian era of low paid workers on zero hour contracts, the privitisation of health care, rickets in children, domestic slaves in London, foreign wars, proliferation of millionaire mansions, homelessness, housing shortages, slum landlords, etc etc.......

We have pretty much all of that, just need the rickets for the full set. Rest assured, the Eton Wallies currently in power are working on it.

Totally agree, we need a party that stands up for England, in the same way Scotland, N. Ireland and Wales have.

Cant help thinking it would have been much better if Scotland had gained independence, would have made this election a lot easier.

That has more to do with Mum feeding them pizza, rather than a few good veg.
Veg are cheap, really, but no one wants to spare the time doing proper cooking these days.

They prefer to hang out, with the push chairs, out side the pie shop, after taking brat No 1, 2 and 3 to school.
Then go pick up the benefit money, before buying the fags and then off to the friends house for a natter and watch daytime TV.

Then time to go pic up brat No 1, 2 and 3, drag them back to the council flat and push a burger into them.

Vit d deficiency is easily solved

I become severely vit d deficient in my first year of illness i had a level of 14 your level should be 50

You just have to spend 15-20 mins outside every day if possible without sun screen so best in the morning or after 3pm

                        Problem solved

Its only an issue because we spend more time indoor and in cars and wear tons of sunscreen because of fears of skin cancer. Which is a good fear but we need the sun for vit d too

I seem to be agreeing with Pete's posts more than anybody else on this thread, so think I must be the same age, but I got the opportunity to retire early flippin ages ago.

Another one for the list - interns - who often don't get paid at all.

Whilst I agree that there should be no poverty in our society, I do question the definition of it. You get some people supposedly living in poverty and using food banks, but still manage to buy fags and booze.

A lot of the problems on this thread are being blamed on the Tories, but they haven't just sprung up over the last five years - they've been in the making a lot longer than that.

Pete, if they're anything like the ones around here you forgot to mention the cheap booze and drugs.

I may be about to cause WW3 here but I am one of the people that think child benefit should be limited to the first 2 children.
I also think that it should not be paid in cash but in some sort of vouchers for food or clothing etc

Oh burger it, in for a penny in for a pound here goes........

I don't believe that food banks are needed for the majority of people. You can get a full roast dinner (meat, veg, pots etc) from Iceland for 89p. Fresh fruit and veg are also cheap to buy. Instead you have people buying burgers, pizzas, fish & chips etc.
Now onto the subject of tax, I believe that a person on a 40 hr week would be earning approx £260/280 per wk, why should someone getting that not pay a minimum amount of tax. I'm only suggesting a token amount say £5 per £100.
As for the selling off of council houses, the original proviso was that the councils involved would build so many new homes with the proceeds. What happened instead was that many of them invested the money in dodgy overseas banks and lost it when the banks crashed.
                                I get £71 a week and I wouldn't say that I live in poverty
                                .
I think my message here is that the answer is more money management rather than just throwing more money at the problem.
