    Sorry I'm late to this thread.
    I was fortunate to have spent a week at Barnsdale doing work experience, when I was 16. (OK, most of it was spent with Nick Hamilton in his nursery where he looked after me well and taught me some basics of horticulture.) Some titbits to share about the Barnsdale house: Geoff's hallway was covered in old agricultural/horticultural implements mounted on the walls; the downstairs toilet had lots of funny letters sent in e.g. one addressed to 'The TV Garden, Yorkshire.' It was a surreal experience to walk in the Barnsdale gardens, which in those days weren't open to the public as they needed to be in pristine condition for the TV cameras...all those little gardens used for filming, like little rooms back to back.
    As Monty said on GW last week, it's easy to forget how pioneering he was pushing organic/environmentally friendly gardening into the mainstream.

      Is Beechgrove shown sooth of the border, I quite enjoy that, they are all good gardeners.
