Getting Poinsettia to bloom

        It's probably a bit bigger than it should be because I didn't cut it back. Having said that I'm really pleased with how it's gone so far :smile:

          I might be wrong, but I get the feeling that the ones you buy have been treated with growth hormone to keep them compact.

            @Victoria Nice to see how well your plant is flowering! I'd heard they grow wild in the Canary Isles but I never imagined they could grow so high!

            I had a plant in Spain for several years which flowered every year but grew tall & lanky but, (I'm talking about the mid 1980s), there was no Internet so I couldn't look up how to grow them & prune them. I only ever cut off the flowerheads once dead. If I'd known back then I would probably have kept the plant for a few more years. But it looked horrible & the flowers hardly made it worth my time trying to get it to flower every year.

              I will get some more pictures as it develops this month Balc. It does bloom lower down as well.
              This was the year before last taken from the other side.

                I believe the plant originates in Mexico Central America.

                  It's good that it can also flower further down - otherwise you would get a crick in your neck from trying to see the flowers up so high! :roflol:
