    Not a giant in the onion world. But for me this is BIG. The biggest I have ever grown..[​IMG]

          :sad: Wish I hadn't looked at all your photos. I was quite pleased with my efforts until I saw the onions you lot have grown! Mine were from seed so I can only hope/console myself the whoppers featured were from sets. Do not advise me that they too were from seed as I'm cheesed off enough:)

            :grphg: Silu, from my experience I find seed-grown onions and shallots do much better than from set, and they are less likely to bolt as well. :ccheers:

                Mine were from seed, but bit of a late start, first sowing on Bocking day didn't germinate :sad:

                  I've pulled up mine, best one is 1.093Kg (2lbs 6oz), with a girth of just under 17":

                  That's only half the weight of what I grew a couple of years ago when I last tried growing Kelsae. I put it down to a late start (sowing too late in Feb). Next season I'll sow on Boxing Day.

                  The Kelsae at the allotment were even smaller, only about 1lb each. Still they are just right to eat!

                    Should have pulled mine yesterday, had rain this morning, hope they don't rot like the first lot did, lost most of them :sad:

                    I'm going to freeze most of mine today, as going by past experiences these Kelsae don't store well, I think they are just too big to properly dry and harden off.

                        Our first attempt at giant onions. Biggest is 14.5" all way round and weights 1lb 8.5oz
