Sooooo...in terms of over population, who's going to be first in line to volunteer not to have children? Perhaps governments need to offer some sort of financial incentive to people who opt not to have any? Me, I've already met that criteria - can I have my tax break now?

China tried the one child policy, with success...but there is now a whole generation that has grown up as 'only child' families...with the resulting issues and problems that brings.

I have three kids already so it is a little too late for me, but in my next incarnation I would happily volunteer. I might even have some money at the end of the week if I do.

And besides, I wouldn't be too surprised if nature didn't have something up it's sleeve to deal with the problem of us.

Well a start would be to only pay out on the first two with whatever benefits, after that any kids by whatever partners get absolutely nothing.
It might help to cut down on 4x4s cluttering the road, smoking, binge drinking, prescriptions and fast food.:D

Slightly off topic but a while ago I watched a programme about the long-suffering staff who worked for the Child Support Agency. They had to be very careful when they opened the post, as they never knew quite what they would find. Anyway, they had one young lady on their books who would not reveal the identity of her child's father. Finally, when pressed, she claimed that she hadn't got the slightest idea who he might because - er - 'it' happened while she was at a party and was busy leaning out of the window being sick. :) And they say romance is dead.
