    I have just started potting my large flowered Glads. up, I keep them in pots which I hide in the borders. I dig up the bulbs in the Autumn as they don't survive Winter here.

      What size pot do you use? I was considering that for my dahlias amongst other things, but wasn't sure what size pot to use...

      I put 5 in a plastic bucket [ with a hole cut in it ] and then partially bury in the border.

        We have just transplanted a huge collection of Gladiolus papilio from where they shouldn't have been to a place that we want them. They flower every year and have an amazing flower, just like a painting inside. We are heavy clay soil.

          @Punkdoc .
          I like your idea of growing them in pots to move into the border when in flower.
          How many do you put in a pot? I have just bought some and was horrified to see that there are 30 in the bag so I hope it's possible to squeeze more than two or three in a pot/ container - or one to a small pot, maybe?

          Need quite a bit of room, gladdies. I put 3 or 5 in a pot about the same size as punkdoc's bucket, so if you've got 30 - well - that's quite a lot of buckets! You'd get more in one of those long troughs, but more difficult to position those, afterwards.

            I'd better put them in the ground, then. Thanks @Tinkerton .
