                My sympathy goes to her family who have lost their mother/grandmother, and that as many of us know is very distressing ... it's a sad time for them.

                      A very sad day ,and a tear was shed.
                      A very special lady ,she had a great interest in horse racing as I do.I think she was as near to perfection as one could get.
                      I heard she had cancer of the back/spine this maybe just rumour.

                      The closest I ever came to Her Majesty was when she visited Newmarket 2016,I got a few nice snaps.

                          The two occasions I have seen the Queen in person:

                          - as a Primary school kid standing on the side of the road (we had the day off school to see the Queen pass through our small town). She looked straight into my eyes - you don't forget things like that;

                          - I was driving down the M18 and was suddenly aware that there was only one other driver on the motorway. I looked over my right shoulder as a black car passed - to see the Queen sitting there talking to her Lady in Waiting.

                            I am proud to have driven this in service for her Golden Jubilee. Driving up The Mall through all those crowds, past the palace with The Queen, Prince Philip and family waving from what seemed surprisingly close quarters is a day that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

                            I am not ashamed to say I have shed a few tears, and no doubt will shed a few more.

                              My only time of rubbing shoulders with the Queen and the rest of the family was when invited to an evening event to celebrate the restoration of Windsor castle after the fire, i did what was a small amount of the joinery that was involved and somehow ended up with an invite.
                              It was a bit of an eye opener, I must admit.
                              Still got my invitation letter and a gold, (coloured) medal.
