I'm glad it was doing well. I'm not sure I want to see the autopsy!

Update. Ken is still putting on weight, eats well, often first to the pond sticks. Apart from 'his' odd shape seems quite OK.

Update. Very poorly and much more bloated on his side in a side ward away from the other fish. Post-Mortem very soon.

Hans you should have dispatched this fish when you first encountered the problem it's not worth putting the other fish at risk from a possible infection,it should at least be quaratined you stand to lose all your fish if you don't follow the basics of fish keeping.

Last rites administered with my now unused fishing Preist. I had a visit 3 evenings ago from a cat or, as I live on the river bank, a Otter. My 8 fish are now down to 3. One other fish with the same symptoms was left on the lawn.
I think it was egg retention and old age that was Her final demise. Ken may have been a lady fish.

    Gruesome!

I was going to say "egg bound", honest!, but then I though "I know diddly squat about fish, so I'll keep my trap shut"!

I may well be wrong or it may be a bit of both dropsy and egg retention if such a thing is possible. I read the conclusions for dropsy and this fish was full of liquid in the outer cavity and the liver looks poor I don't know.

    Sudden death.
Always sad when it happens, but we normally know the reason way.
One of my largest goldies I found floating this morning.
    Yesterday he was just fine.
Today dead, all other fish OK.
    Very strange

That's a shame Robert it looks so healthy, what can happen is they can take things off the water like bees and wasps and can get stung and it will kill them, unlike Orfe they take them whole straight down and they are not affected, just a possibility.
