Well, in conclusion, I am bound to say that nothing could have been more satisfying than my wife’s contented smile as, enthroned in green and gold, she decreed her pleasure platform a success. In fact, evoking another word for “platform”, I would say that her expression is well “shelf-satisfied” ... now there’s a reward for my pains! And the reassurance that any misleading impression I might have given of her character has now been irrevocably countered.

But listen to what came next. Having barely settled down on her throne, she asks:
Could you build me some Hanging Gardens?
I am flummoxed, thinking she’d said “hanging garters” (must have been a shineyng moment), and I replied But you don’t wear stockings. Now she is flummoxed: What are you on about?!
You want hanging garters? I ask.
Gardens, I said!
Oh! ... What would we hang them from? Where would we put them?
Where the bamboo was. And you could put up a plaque saying "Hic Stabat Propugnator".
Where does she get her ideas? But no doubt, the seed has been sown. Will it take root?

So ... that’s where we are! And who knows what comes next; Babylon, no doubt! Or a Tower of Babel?
