Nice spuds Ziggy. My Charlottes are just flowering but getting beaten to death with the South Westerlies but I'm hopeful of new spuds for Xmas! Out of interest we have just finished our first earlies, Aron Pilot which have been the best spuds ever apart from some slight scabbing which I'm told is down to the chalk where I live. Any suggestions for treating future crops to prevent scab? They still taste great and they don't fall apart but they don't look too attractive.

    Cheers Justracing,

Got them in my curry for lunch tommorow:dbgrtmb:

Scab goes hand in hand with a lime soil, one thing you could do is make sure you get every tiny spud out of the soil and rotate where you grow them each year. Scab could be wiped out if we could all do that as it won't overwinter without being on a spud plant.

Saying that, unless you are exhibiting, it wont do you any harm, peels off fine.

What's peeling? I hardly ever peel anything, ruins the flavour but you're right you can scrape off any unsightly bits. I think I may be pushing the boundaries having planted so late but I couldn't eat the carrots quickly enough which were in the designated planting area!
