Looking good. Wish I had the space you have in your garden, seems endless what you could be doing out there each day.

Those troughs are great but I just LOVE that pond.....:love30::dbgrtmb:

If that 'blanket weed' gets too much in the summer you could consider stocking a few grass carp; they absolutely love the stuff and as they're not bottom feeders they won't stir up the bottom creating 'muddy' looking water...

Thanks very much, Bilbo for the recommendation on grass carp.

They look good. Do you happen to know if they'll interfere with water lilies?

I'd love to have the space for Grass Carp, you should be fine with the Lillies. They do like a lot to eat though and they are very fast growing.

Hi, no they won't touch water lilies and as they don't feed/root on the bottom they won't disturb the roots either. I managed a fishery for 13 years and have many many years angling experience too. We've stocked them in waters with blanket weed problems and they do a great job, never touching lilies, reeds, iris etc..

You can either buy the normal strain which are silver or an albino strain; which are a creamy white colour, if you want something more visual; might attract the attention of Mr Heron though...??

        Thanks very much, Bilbo.
I'll make enquiries about buying a few.
It'll be hard to stop Mr and Mrs Heron being inquisitive though. "Look, Henrietta. There's something new on the menu today!"

Planted another 12 troughs with alpines around the back pond on Saturday.

Here's pics of 6 of them.

Pics taken a fortnight ago of the front garden, where there are two ponds. The ponds are a bit smaller than the one in the back. :)

              bottom front, Michaelmas Daisies,

Staddle stones demoted here and red sandstone balls put in their place.
I've dug up all my Evening Primroses (Missouriensis) and put them into pots. Anyone's welcome to come and take them away. The pots are quite big.
