Changed to bayonet (my outside lighting is screw), I'm sure 2 x 3w flashing colour changing leds would still be capable of driving my neighbours bonkers.

I have 2 front lights, both operated by radio remote controls, one by front door, other by side gate, don't waste electricity so only turn on when immediately outside, got another like that for our rear access, one remote with 3 buttons operates all 3 lights, went for a bit of a techy setup, also got doorbell that operates radio pager if in garden so don't waste time indoors waiting for callers.

Every time people mention light bulbs it reminds me of when we had a few problems with the sellers of a previous house so we weren't exactly on speaking terms when we eventually moved into the new abode. To my horror and annoyance, the sellers had taken every light fitting and left us with 1 red light bulb in each room. Raging, as we'd paid them a very good price for the house I telephoned my somewhat staid solicitor to complain and get him to threaten them with being sued re having swiped the light fittings which were included in the sale. I did say to the solicitor that I had not bought the house with the purpose of setting it up as a lady of the night house! To my great pleasure and surprise our solicitor reiterated in his letter to the sellers that our new home was not going to be operating as a brothel:)...we duly got back everything the sellers removed plus they had to pay us damages for the inconvenience and they had to pay for someone to put all the fittings back up. Moral of the story I suppose is don't pi.. off the buyer!

You should have bought more low energy bulbs when the supermarkets, etc., were selling them for 1p each.

Some friends who've recently moved have been threated with the small claims court because they hadn't replaced one defective bulb before moving.

Loved that tale Silu :blue thumb:
(PS Glad you out of the brothel game now  )
Reminds me a few weeks ago my step daughter had a new kitchen fitted . They installed the new LED lights around the plinths / 7 colours / 7 light patterns / remote control etc etc . She said it looks like a brothel. My reply "How do you know what a brothel looks like Helen ! "

I once knew a woman who, despite her considerable erm , maturity, was openly and blatantly promiscuous. She actually lived with two gentlemen friends (one was her husband, the other was a live in toy boy) and she had several more regular gentlemen callers.

She had a rather ornate lamp by her front door, which she kept permanently on during darkness hours. One day, much to the amusement of everyone who heard the tale or witnessed what some bright spark did, she discovered that during the night, someone had come along and swapped the regular white light bulb for a nice red one:)

I've still got at least a dozen low energy bulbs in the cupboard. They were given free by our electricity supplier (at the time) but are all ES fittings

ES to bayonet adaptors, 2 for £1 @ Ikea http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90295615/ No more frustration when seeing a shelf full of bulbs reduced to pennies, but finding it's only the ES ones left.

                      Thanks Scrungee :blue thumb:

The only problem is that they only light fittings that require the output of those bulbs are our outside lights. These low energy bulbs are large than the incandescent ones and would only just fit in the fittings and let the tops be screwed back on. Those adapters must add more than the eighth of an inch that I calculate is the absolute maximum clearance.

Just thought of a bright idea :ideaIPB:. I'll put them on sale on Open Day.

Talking about light bulbs from e-bay, there are a couple of videos of youtube warning against cheap chinese led bulbs - the GU10 type. In one case the bulb had a metal case - which there was a 50/50 chance would go 'live' if inserted into the socket incorrectly. I ended up getting mine from B&Q in the end.
