You can get a calamine lotion with anti-hystamines in it (I think it's made by benadryl). The chemist recommended it to me when I got bit by an insect and I swear by it now for stinging nettles and bites. I have a field at the end of my garden and everytime I go down to sort out my climing roses that grow on the fence I get stung by the nettles in the field so you have my every sympathy!

Nettles always seem to have a 'stronger' sting at this time of year, those little ones lurking in the undergrowth are worse as you don't see them just feel them!

Dock leaves always seem to work for me, although none grow in my garden so I use plantain leaves, I think its the spit that seems to do the job.

Kath I can really sympathize with you darling as we have just taken on an allotment with nettles 4ft-5ft high in places and although I wear long sleeves etc. I still manage to get stung.... mostly on my face!

To be honest they really don't seem half as bad as they did when I was young way back in the horse and cart era and the itchiness doesn't last too long (at least on me) although up there in Scotland sweetie I'm sure just like you strong Scots the nettles have to be well'ard to cope with the weather. :D

Seriously though Kath here's hoping you get some relief real soon and take care when your near those mean nettles in the future darling.Hel.xxx.
