Your going to have a pretty garden in the summer, what are you planning to grow on the arches..? If its edible, squashes would look ace growing over them.

      Steve...:)

Was originally thinking of annual climbers - so that I can change the colour scheme each year. Nipped down to the allotment for half and hour today - one of the guys down there suggested runner beans (as you did lolimac ) - but I'll do a bit of a goggle and have a look at squashes :dbgrtmb:

I thought that the allotments would be busy on a Sunday - but there were only a couple of other people down there - the weather I suppose.

Anyway, I'm installing another raised bed around the vine trellis - the area is prone to holding onto water - so I want to make sure that the vine roots are raised up and out of risk.

Picked up a small frying pan from Morrisons - will be making a freshly cooked bacon butty at the allotment tomorrow for lunch...

Same on our site, we don't see the vast majority of gardeners until Easter or so..

This is what the Halliana Honeysuckle look like now:

This is new growth - from the last month or so - I'm not saying it's global warming...

If you look as the path to the shed - threw down some bark chippings - this is how all the paths will look eventually.

Our local Homebase is closing in June - so they are selling off stock with a 10% discount. Not good - as this is our only local D.I.Y. store :gaah:

Yes, clanless, I have new growth on some shrub roses which have yet to get their annual hard prune. Some of my Clematis have never lost their leaves so far and are putting on more growth.

My Flight Sergeant Discip, when I was an Apprentice, said "Son, never volunteer" and then "volunteered" me to wash dishes in the Mess Kitchen.

So, do the other allotment owners have to paint any thing that doesn't move white and polish their spades, clanless??
                            Congratulations, by the way!!

I think I'm being manoeuvred into position to be the next secretary - no one else wants to do it - whimps :)

I shouldn't have told them that I previously worked in local government - as the allotment is run and managed by us lot, on behalf of the Council - and they think I have 'inside' knowledge.

The others were a bit panicky the other day as a man from the Council was coming around. I told them he was only coming because it was a sunny day and he fancied a bit of a break from the office. That's what I would have done :)

No one from the Council ever comes to the meetings - because they are in the evening.....
