Hi Pamdish, I agree with you wholeheartedly. It is a lottery...:dunno:

It helps to know what teams/horses are generally decent performers, therefore they have a realistic chance of winning... But good performers get beaten regularly!...Soooo...

But anyway: betting can be a lot of fun, if one doesn't play continuously, and bet an amount that he/she feels ok losing, on the day.

It can actually teach you the very important lesson that losing everything and put your hands on a bunch of money, stand at the same distance.

Maybe so, but why is it that the Bookies seem to win the Lottery more than the Punters??:dunno::heehee:

Sorry @ARMANDII there are very narrow margins in bookmaking, nothing comes free, slips and pens 2 tangible items I will mention, the first abandoned National cost my business approx £300, extra staff still to be paid, and special items/events.
I placed some bets for neighbours, I have an online account, one of my widowed neighbours husband was an Arthur, she is £80 better off now.

I tipped the winner, One For Arthur, to my wife and also 2 of my daughters, who phoned me for a tip for the National. I recommended Arthur to them, went to Glasgow that day,got a wee bit tipsy,to say the least, and forgot all about Arthur, I didn't have a penny on it.:wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:.

Your bookie paid out on 15% of the field, at 1/5th odds, had your horse come 6th you would have received for £1 e.w. £11, £9 profit, none of the first 6 even at s.p. would have returned a negative for the punter.
