I think unless we are all prepared to pay the price of organic produce some spraying etc of commercial crops will always be required.
Its where intensive farming has brought us along with over population.

What really amount to animal cruelty is going on every day, but its accepted in order to put food on peoples plates.
I dont think there is anyone in the country that can actually say they are innocent.

You may not have long to wait...... Bugs are your future, whether it be cricket meal from Vietnam or Black Soldier fly maggots from Morocco*. Its coming to a food factory sooner than you may wish.
Personally, road kill has more appeal but supplies are limited. Grey squirrels are probaby a good bet, badger hams a delicacy they say. Venison ? I couldn't possibly comment.

You can always try driving more to increase your chance - but make sure you only drive an EV. :heehee:

The articles on bees and mobile phones (no, not mobile phones for bees!) were interesting.

When there are all the discussions on CO2 and car and plane emissions they never mention the amount of emissions from the production of mobiles and the ancillary equipment to keep the systems going. Apparently it is quite high and because the manufacturers produce them with built in obsolescence it results in relatively high carbon production. Of course, they wouldn't/couldn't ban mobiles to help towards 'net zero' so almost never talk about it. :noidea:

Venison is quite good, very lean but tasty. I didnt like rabbit. never had a squirry.
AI training (basically running super computers 24/7 for months) is so energy intensive google and similar are building or refurbishing their own power plants. They just made a big investment in modular nuclear reactor projects. Its so intense that many tech-bros who previously claimed to be for net-zero have now totally abandoned the idea, note all the billionaires being uncritical of trump pulling out of the paris agreement.

Lest anybody takes this forward, please remember that to stop and pick-up a wild animal you have (sadly/sucessfully) failed to avoid,is illegal under UK law. However it is essential that if you were to be so unlucky/lucky,you must stop safely and ensure no un-necessary suffering occurs.
However, if you come across such an occurrance , it is deemed lawful to remove and utilise said casualty as you may.
Traffic police may sometimes avoid agreeing with this, however 'early shift
' has its perks they may admit.

To carry that point further, uselessly in most cases, you are not allowed to eat road kill that is from a protected species.
