"what the best way to get electric into the greenhouse is"

Armoured cable, underground (or I suppose a suitable suspended cable if the greenhouse is close to the house). I reckon its prohibitively expensive these days, unless greenhouse is very close to a suitable electric supply, so I am planning to buy a gas-heater for greenhouse this winter (to use in the spring when "starting things off", rather than to "keep things alive" during the winter)

The armoured cable is expensive and the use of electric is expensive. But it is very convienent. I guess if you just heated a small part of your greenhouse - say using a soil warming cable within a cold frame inside the greenhouse it might reduce costs. Just an idea - not done it myself.

The greenhouse is now up Fancy:thumb:
The problem with the meccano set is the bits you have left over after it's all completed :dh:
It's so nice of them to put all those extra pieces in isn't it :lollol: (They are extra pieces arnt they:wink:)

    Well, another little update.
I now have the downspouts connected to the waterbutt (Which I got free from a local person) which is great.

I have now had electrics professionally installed into the greenhouse and I am running a little electric fan heater. That is using approx 10kw per 24hrs.

I may look at using one of those slim line radators but not sure if that will cost more or less. I'll let you know.

As it was, I was using approx 5 ltrs of parafin a week which was costing around £7.50 per 5 ltrs but did not keep the greenhouse frost free!

I now have to work on my staging ready for summer but I'll wait until it gets a little warmer before doing that. heheheh

Hi Snappers, I am really gutted that you took the easy way out (getting someone to put it up for you) cos I am new to this forum and I enjoyed reading your posts. We are in the same position (have a great pile of bits, thinking "Omigod what have we done!") Only this time it's me who wants the greenhouse and hubby who'd rather find something else to do. Did you get anywhere with that divorce lawyer?
