Totally agree Spruce there were a number of things I found unsatisfactory about the service Eden halls provided that currently I'm not that bothered about such as a mistake about the delivery date and then a unexpected delivery the next day with no forewarning from the company only a phone call 15 minutes before delivery by the driver and then also the fact I had to help unload the greenhouse from the pallet truck oh and the fact that the glass was just laid across some other pallets of stuff in the lorry, I could go on... but as I said I can forgive that but if there's any problems with the greenhouse going up then there getting an essay in the post! :snork:

        Aesculus,

Sorry to here that the company had transported the glass in this way.
I have never heard of glass being transported flat before as the fragile nature of it.
When we had delivery of glass from places it always had been transported in an upright position with paper in-between every fifth pane to ensure no cracking.
There was also corrugated cardboard under the edge of the glass to ensure the edges did have protection too.
When we had the glass houses packed for delivery they went on their own pallet with the glazing in the centre and the structure to the outside. In essence everything was protected by each other for transit and enabled the customer to check the pallet prior to erection.
If the house was greater than 8 x 6 they went on 2 pallets for stacking of glass was not to be flat, but upright. Things have changed then since I had my day :wallbanging:

          Hi,
When I ordered my greenhouse many years ago, the greenhouse came from the suppliers, but the Glass came from a local GLASS supplier about 2 miles away all safe and sound. I have just insulated my GH with small bubble wrap as it was free (from a friend in trade), the last time it lasted about 3 years, and I did'ent bother taking it down in the Summer, has the Winter had removed the powder shading, so this was fine. My plants are OK and we just had temps of -2c, -0,7 & -1.6 etc. I lost a soft bodied Mammillaria last week, but it was a bit damp!! for some reason?

Well Greenhouse is up! there were some problems with the frame and some of the glass was broken in the packs but the guy putting it up just whipped some out of his van to replace it so no biggy :) one thing he did say was the glass was really poor quality and a number of the panes have visible defects and artifacts he also mentioned that there were quite large gaps in the corners :frown:

                Hi Aescuus and all,
Looks like a nice job to me, certainly put up better then I did ours. Our back garden is on a slope and I stuck it on what was a lawn!! All cacti etc holding out OK, had temps down to -4c. Brought a few tender ones indoors, this included Rhipsalidopsis rosea, like a Chistmas cactus but smaller, the flower usually red and rotate, unlike the tubular of the later, and flowering at Easter time. I gave it a good drink and put it on the kitchen window-sill, its just falling to bits, every day I have to pick the stem segments up, and pop them back in the pot, but ha I'll have 12-20 new plants next year, but sadly no flowers. Let me know if you want one.

BT have now robbed me of my free website!! But you can see some of my pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/89624455@N02/
                or here:http://s1194.beta.photobucket.com/user/cactusface007/library/Cacti and Succulents

Can't decide which is best, you could tell me what you think...
Also do all us Cactus & succulent fans think you should have a dedicated forum slot just for us?? Tropical and Greenhouse can mean many things that are NOT Cacti or succs.

                  Looking very good Aesculus!

I wouldn't worry too much about the glass defacts. Also if you really want you could squeeze some clear silicon into the corner gaps (unless you are about to move house again!) I'd only bother if you plan to insulate and heat the greenhouse, otherwise a few air gaps are 'normal'.
