When I say healed....I mean that the cuts have dried up, healed.

Ok, just an update. All 6 are pretty much looking the same (growing away nicely, considering the bad start). However, I don`t think it`s a fair comparison BECAUSE of that start. I guess I`ll just have to repeat the experiment again next year, sorry Dai. Cheers...freddy.

Thanks for that 'inter'. It's a shame that I couldn't get it just right this year. I have to say that the cabbages that I've grown have exceeded my expectations, in fact, hard to imagine that I could grow them any bigger given the space that they received. I can't however say the same for my autumn and winter cabbages. They've been ravaged by caterpillars  ! Another lesson learned though.....COVER YOUR BRASSICAS ! ;) But it's all good, I'm gaining experience. Cheers...freddy.

Hi again folks. I have a question. My spring cabbages are looking pretty good at the moment and are just starting to heart up. I was wondering, when can I expect to harvest these ? And, how long will they stand ? Cheers...freddy.

Dai, NOT greens, but spring cabbages. When I say they're just starting to heart up, it's just that, nothing more than a swirl right now, if you get me. If I take them now, I wont get much out of them. I assumed they would give a solid heart, not so ?

Hi chums. Well, this year I've tried the same thing as last year, making a cut at the base of my cabbages and keeping the cut open using a slither of plastic. I've cut 5 and left the other 5 alone as a comparison (control). I have to say that the 5 cut ones DO look a little bigger than the others, although it's early days yet to tell for sure. Interesting. A pity Dai aint here to know how it's going, twas his 'challenge'. Cheers...freddy.
