I like to park on the old disused bridge in town where you can watch shoals of enormous mullet hanging around the sluices (and 3 mins from Weymouth Wilkos to check out their reductions), but hate their ticket machines that only work if you have the precise money (like if the charge is £1.30 you're stuffed if you've only got a £1 and two 20p pieces).

For Radipole Lake Reserve I park for free at Matalan across the road.

        Well,
this is our last day in Swanage - homeward bound tomorrow. Awoke to thick fog which didn't clear the town and beach so we went inland to Wareham and had a first class dressed crab salad with tiny new potatoes in a pub garden. This was the river at Wareham today, delightfully sunny there,

Does the profanity filter prevent you from mentioning the name of that river? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Piddle

OK, I'll check it out myself ....... Piddle

I went the other way (!) I was at Upton Country Park near Poole ( work) and I'll be at Durlston Country Park tomorrow (birding).
Scrungee, it is also known as the Trent and you are 'camera clocked' for time at the Jubilee retail (Matalan/Aldi).

Wareham has two rivers I just realised Jenny's pic is of the River Frome which empties into Poole harbour. The Piddle/ Trent is the other (my) side of Wareham.

Shame your holiday has come to an end Jenny, however at least the weather remained good for you, and on the bright side there is always something nice about getting back to your own wee home and your own wee bed :blue thumb:

Had a great run back , smooth and no delays anywhere.
Home now, the washing machine's back on duty and on Load no.3 already. The toms , with a kind neighbour's daily watering, are looking fine. I said help your self to those that ripen. Looking forward to a foo foo bath later and a really comfy mattress.
It was a smashing holiday - been there annually over the last 5 years but this year's weather was the best ever, and it was nice being able to stay in GC touch and meet up with Ziggy again,
                Jenny

'Cos you're worth it my friend and we appreciated having a tour guide in Weymouth. Mr Namaste was well impressed with Weymouth's welcoming approach to tourists, the pedestrianized shopping areas, that generous beach and the Park and Ride set up too....
                    Jenny

he had a t-shirt printed up with "SAGA LOUT" in pearly scarlet emblazoned across the front as a souvenir from Weymouth.....:heehee:
