I don't really like the euphorbias that we can grow outside here, but I would love to be able to grow a Poinsettia outside as a tree. I bought a new one this year for indoors (red, not the newer types) because the one that I had kept going for several years didn't regrow after it's dormant period this year.

I saw a guy with a great jumper today. It had the slogan "Is it all over yet".

I'm really looking forward to Christmas Day!

...because we need a stash of discarded wrapping paper to light the wood burners through January...

My family used to save wrapping paper that could be reused after the application of a warm iron. :)

I'm afraid we still do that, @Tidemark . Some of our wrapping paper has a long history... we also make gift tags from old Christmas cards. I haven't bought wrapping paper for years, and have never bought a gift tag. (Is that Grinchy, or just frugal?)

Frugal - definitely @Liriodendron, and enviromentally sound. My Mum always did that, and I did on many occasions too :blue thumb:

I don't buy presents now either @Escarpment. The money goes to charity instead. I don't need more 'stuff', but others do. The whole period is full of greed nowadays, when it should be the opposite.

Actually it's better than just another day, because I know nobody's going to come and disturb me.

I make gift tags from old cards too. Just done 12 for the work presents.

The wrapping paper waste produced must be ridiculous. I wonder if most people try to reduce, re-use, recycle etc. I doubt it.
