probably because nicotine is an efficient bug repellant by nature.

oh how right you are Java&Me in fact a grow the Aztec strain just for that purpose the nicotine levels are so high in this strain that Americana Indians used to use it as a ceremonial Tobacco with would put them into a trance, such high levels of nicotine i so pose, i collect the leaves and put them in a barrel let them foment and use the tea is a natural insecticide on my veg.

I still have stacks of seed left, some that I originally bought from the tabacco company and the rest quite a bit which I harvested from my own crop last year. Steve has not smoked all his leaves as he wanted something to trim them properly perhaps I ought to take on a pasta machine then. We are still making up our mind whether the effort is worth it.

I used an old dope grinder to cut up my tobacco leaves last year and it seemed to work fine.
I still have a couple of plants in the conservatory that are in flower, so may get some early crop this year.

Yes Steve did but said it still wasn't ideal. I don't think I want to encourage him to smoke any longer. the roots where I cut the crop off last year some are growing again. Might watch them and see but if anyone want some seed I have plenty Golden Virginia to spare if you want it......just shout. Moyra.

It grows fine in the UK. Only trouble is, slugs ate the lot of mine last year, mind you, they ate everything else too.

They`re no trouble when they`re small, problem is they dont stay small for very long :)
I have a load of seeds (gazillions) if anyone is stuck. Not sure if they`re golden virginia or amber leaf as i forgot to label them.
