They do not have a very strong smell. Not even the blooms which you would think would have some strong scent. They are extremely sticky though!

Are you going to hang them from the top down because if you turn the upside down to hang then all the leaves will stick to the actual stem and you might nog get them off. I picked another load of leaves today and have hung them in my airing cupboard. When they are more or less all dry and crispy we take them out and put them into a shoe box by which time the ones in the shoe box are ready to be rubbed down and stored in tobacco pouches.

Oh if I can get a photo of the dried leaves in the shoe box I will but you remember what trouble I have getting photos printed! Steve gave some of the plants to a mate but due to the weather he lost them all so he has said he will give him some of the dried to try.

Interesting but it seems that my airing cupboard allows the tobacco to sweat and the same time to dry. I change the leaves around so that the outer ones which dry first are put to the centre and reversed etc. It seems to work. I tried to upload a picture but got the same 'too large' message as I got before so have given up. joolz if you want to pm me your e-mail address I will send you the photo's and will take some more of the plants that are left so you can see what is happening with mine. Cheers Moyra.

Hi Joolz, yours are ok just a little behind mine. I cannot see what else you can do. If you put them in the loft they wont be so accessible to keep eye on. I think it will be a slow progress. Have you got a fan you could put on in there that would get the air circulating that might be worth a try.

I have stripped the rest of the leaves from the outside tobacco today and put them into the airing cupboard to dry then cut the seed pods off and left them to dry in the greenhouse. I may take them into the airing cupboard when there is room that leaves just four plants left in the greenhouse now. I am not sure I am going to all this bother next year just to keep my son smoking and killing himself. It was worth an experiment but no need to send a fat cheque to the revenue on what we have reaped.

Ive left mine in the shed outside moyra,i doubt they will be any use given the temps we have,im aslo wondering whether they are supposed to be fermented after curing(or is it all the same) before being smoked...more googling...more confusion
