If you have hardened them off they'll be happy outside. They won't mine some cold.

er, mine have got some good foliage..but there doesn't seem to be much substance to them? They are quite close together (not ideal for Celeriac I know...)

Hello fellow celeriac growers! What do you mulch your celeriacs with for winter? I've got mine in raised beds, they've got really big already. I saw somewhere that people mulch them with straw? What happens in the spring, is it a chore to get rid of all the straw from the bed? Sorry if that's a silly question, it's my first autumn in the garden :dunno::ThankYou:

You can probably just dig the straw in then, or rake it up and chuck it on the compost heap

I don't bother to mulch mine. I do remove a few outer leaves around this time of the year, and just clear the soil away a bit to expose the top of the root.

Thanks Kristen, I might just leave them alone as well, although mine are in raised bed, so that's gonna get even colder. I keep removing the outer leaves that start to fall vertical too, cant wait to see how big they get by Winter.

I think the cold-hardiness issue is over rated. Even when we have had -15C I have dug up my Celeriac and they have been fine. Maybe I have been lucky, or the variety was more cold hardy?

Have people had problems with Celeriac not surviving severe cold in the ground?
