Growing The World's Hottest Chillies

    Hello all didn't know if this thread is still watched but throw in the benefit of my experience :D

    I never use a pre soaking method, i use good quality seed and cutting compost, pop in my cheap sankey growarm put my £35 homemade light rig above, 18hrs light 6hrs dark (homemade rig is 60w in total, so doesn't eat too much money) Your seeds were started way too late last year, im sorry to say, C.chinense are very slow growing but can be very prolific given the right conditions.

    Anything superhot will usually fall under the C.chinense catagory. Also im afraid to say your bhut jolokias are not nearly the world's hottest chilli's.

    I started my season early for this year well i started in september last year. But, this is because i was growing for a charity sale for a friend. I planted 410 seed and got 400 plants. I dont use commercial seed packets i only buy from specialist species only(primarily) websites, mostly you get to know the shop owners from festivals etc after a while.

    The use of the weak tea solution is said from my understanding to help prevent fungus gnats attacking the routezone. This was a theory thrown up a while ago on CG (chillis galore) However the same can be acheived by being vigilant and not overwatering your plants. A usual season begins end of december or january, to allow the slower growing ones time to get through the very slow early stages :D

    Anyway im not going to write anymore as i dont even know if this thread is being watched etc.....
    If you need any help or advice i am far from an expert but do have alot of experience both working with and the growing at home of chilli and pepper plants :D

      Hi,

      I occasionally keep track of my chilli threads, but growing them is not everybody's cup of tea.

      The Bhut Jolokia is not the only variety i am growing, and understand it isn't the hottest anymore. However, other than the Butch T and Moruga which i am also growing, there are very few chilies that will rival it.

      Suprisingly, the worlds hottest chilli - moruga scorpion, is the most succesful chilli that has grown out of my collection to date this year. Every single seed came through in my electric propagator, yet only two Bhut Jolokia's managed to surface. I never bothered to soak any of the seeds either, so am quite happy with the results.

      Moruga scorpion is not the worlds hottest again im afraid, The trinidad scorpion moruga blend is one of the hottest though unfortunately they are different strains, but look exactly the same, and are marketed as the same by unscrupulous sellers. They are all far from mild and anyone who can eat one whole and raw has my respect. This years new hottest chilli is said to be the carolina reaper or the HP22B. Last year it was said to be the naga viper etc, people will always come up with the new hottest but any grown in this country will not reach their stated shu level due to our weather system, so what seed sellers tell you is 1.2m shu would really probably only at maximum be 75% of that figure :D
