    Hi HB
They arrived today, thanks very much. Will try them tomorrow if I get a chance - I'll be out nearly all day and evening - otherwise Thursday. If i can stagger to the computer after I've tried them I'll let you know how I got on.

    Hello again Honeybee

I just have to say well done - you have defeated my husbands taste buds. The chillis looked quite small and harmless didn't they so I had some cooked leftover lamb and made shami kebabs with them. I put them both in. A mistake I think!! Should have just used one. I made eight kebabs and just one of them had steam coming out of his ears. Have frozen the rest, which will probably make them hotter. I am now waiting for the other manic member of the family (son) to come home from his tour round Europe and will blow his head as well. Such wimps men.

I thought there might be some seed inside but there wasn't - do you know where I can buy seed as I have a friend in Spain who is also chilli mad. We even brough a lot back from India with us last year. He could grow them in Spain without any trouble at all.

Thanks again it has given me such a lot of fun (sad aren't I)

    B

Likewise barbaraanne, I have just had the fire brigade put the flames out. I thought mine were hot but these (four slices on a homemade pizza)were not hot, they were a complete mouth burner, hitting you more afterwards.
Thanks HB It was worth the challenge, have you tried them? :D

Hi Strongy - er - um - well ...... ok, I'm a chilli whimp big time!!! I did cut a tiny piece and touch it to my tongue - there was a split second delay, then, it was as if someone had put burning coals in my mouth!!!!!!!!!! So there was NO WAY I would chew a piece.... I am going to make a chilli con carne next week with one in, or maybe half of one, or a quarter..... :D :D ;)

(and Mr HB sneaked a bit when no-one was looking - and then he refused to try it in front of us, so it beat him!!!!) :D

    Hi HB
I had one of the Naga chillies with my lamb chops tonight. I'm not sure that it was really a Naga because it didn't seem as hot as the Bird's Eye chillies that I normally eat.

Did anyone notice the smell of the chillies? The two Nagas (the fat chillies) had a very distinctive aroma. I couldn't decide whether they smelled of a sort of perfume or had a musty smell. It tasted very similar to the way it smelled - if that makes sense to anyone. I can usually tell how hot a chilli is by cutting it and smelling it.

I shall try the Thai Dragon tomorrow - these look very similar to my normal Thai Bird's Eye Chillies. I looked at the link that you gave and the Scoville scale didn't have Bird's Eye on it so I am not sure how it compares. I usually have one or two Bird's Eyes with a meal. If you are able to take the heat you can then, usually , taste the flavour of the chilli and different varieties have slightly different flavours. I wasn't very keen on the flavour of the Naga but am looking forward to trying the Dragon.

I'm enjoying this - thanks HB [IMG] [IMG] .

Honey Bee, mine hadn't arrived by Thursday, so I'm not ignoring you. I won't go back to the post box till Monday ... it's 6kms away and we usually only go twice a week, unless we're passing in the meantime! [IMG]

    Hi HB

I've been eating raw chillies for over 40 years so have probably developed a resistance to them. Mrs shiney has been eating them for longer than me as she was brought up in Calcutta. She went to school there and had to learn the local language as well so has an O level in Bengali!!

Although she eats lots of chillies as well, she can't take them quite as hot as me. I'm also lucky because they don't burn at the other end either :D :D :D

    Hi Shiney

"I'm also lucky because they don't burn at the other end either"

   I'm very pleased for you!!!!!

(funny story - when my eldest first had a hot chilli - the next day he came to me looking all worried/confused/upset - "Mummy, my bottoms burning" thinking (typical man) that he had some major illness.....   )

Hi, Honey Bee. I picked up the chillis today. Thank you very much. I'll give you t'other half's verdict when he's tried them ... I don't think I'll be joining the tasting ceremony! He had a laugh at your note "hope they have got to you in one piece." He said, "Why, can't I eat them if they are broken?"
