HANGING BASKETS AND WINDOW BOXES- BITS AND BOBS 2016

Thanks for that @BeeHappy - the watering will be irregular and unpredictable, so is there something better for my situation other than Wax Begonias and Coleus?

If you please you can check out the info and piccy in my GC gallery album http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/gallery/albums/my-all-time-favs-in-the-garden.439/ I would never be without it mine flowered from March to December last year with very little care I'm going to try it in a more shady place this year ...so will be better able to answer to reply on that but it is very cheap to purchase and will self seed regularly so a win win trail Also have you considered a self watering system or another easier option of gel crystals in the compost ..that would open up your plants choices

 

I have posted this on other threads, but I wanted to do something a bit different this year. The idea is that I can change it around, swap plants out as and when they have passed their best. I will also use it to display various choice autumn/spring bulbs too. Just need lots of pots!

Certainly did, just cheap shelves, pots, rope, a few old hinges to fix to the wall and a circular hole saw drill attachment. Cost more than I anticipated tbh.

In last years thread, I suggested that I would attempt ...

And Our Mandy (aye!) thought I meant ...

So I settled any confusion ...

I went ahead with the experiment, lining the basket with an old compost bag (cut down and turned inside out), filled it with some compost, popped a couple or three pieces of the succulent into it (and some creeping jenny) and then, pretty much left it to its own devices!

Yesterday I took a photo to see how it is "developing" ...




... I now present to you, my one year old, "Ruffled Feathers" :



Not the most beautiful of creations by any stretch of the imagination, but a bit of whimsy which saved Henny from the landfill and still gives me a chuckle when I pass her.

 

They are wonderful Shiney. Let's hope we get some decent weather to go with them.

 

I've just ordered a couple of these but the 22inch wall basket version. Has anyone tried them please?

I changed the video for a different one.

Four chains are a good idea, but I don't use hanging baskets because of the battering they take here from the wind. I'll report back later in the year on there success rate.
