Thanks @HarryS :blue thumb: but, as I said, we cheat and get them brought on in a professional hothouse. :) It's good having friends in hot places :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Last year they were more advance at this time. This was a couple of them

I don't know. I'll have to ask the oracle and she's busy at the moment.

I don't usually plan my baskets. I just tend to shove whatever I can find into them.
However, after seeing the photos on here I think I must try harder this year, or I will be ashamed to show any photos :frown:

Mine usually just contain one type of plant. Round the back we use Fuchsias ( I bet you lot had already guessed that :) ), but round the front we use Petunias.

PS.... We only do wall half baskets.

Ours get stuffed full of plants that give height, width and a lot of trailing greenery that eventually reaches the ground. They also give a variety of colour, leaf shape and bloom size. This gives constant interest. :dbgrtmb:

              Hi Shiney,

I used to do them like that but I have to keep them simple now as they're at my moms and I don't go every day so they have to be accessible for her to water etc.

@leeski , if you look around the Supermarkets and garden centres they will be selling 6 packs of plants now . Supermarkets are very cheap . Some places do 6 packs of different plants for baskets for around £5 . This will nicely fill a 12" basket . A 14" basket will need about 9 plants.
For baskets try Poundstretcher , B and M bargains etc . The all you need is some good multi purpose compost and some slow release fertilizer ( hundreds and thousands they look like ).
To plant the basket have a look on YouTube , lots of how to's on there :blue thumb:

@leeski like @HarryS said bedding plants are in supermarkets now and they're pretty cheap, get there early to get the best non dried out ones though :blue thumb: Saying this, I did try starting my own bedding off this year from seed in Feb and growing on mini plugs, I planted these up the other day and the basket looks quite sparse if I'm honest compared to the bedding I bought from BnQ.. maybe my growing skills I dunno  lol but if you do start seed off now I don't think they would grow to the size you would like. Is it those easy seed hanging baskets kits you've seen? Buy one and keep it for next Feb/March, I've noticed they don't sell them at the right time :)

I decided against baskets and window boxes this year, instead I was inspired by and indoor planter I saw online to build this. I have posted this before on other threads, but I'm really pleased with it. I will have spare pots on standby to swap out as this go over or past their best, including autumn, winter bulbs, etc. Only major issue I had was that as the rope stretch, the shelves drooped (fitted to the wall on hinges rather than brackets), so I had to redo them a few times.

                    Well, thats the plan!

Spotted these pot planters while i was in there might be of interest to some members.
