Blimey roders, you must have some envious neighbours! ;)

I know nothing can compete with Roders' baskets, but here's a more normal one! I like it - particularly the red of the dianthus....

and this one isn't as successful, but it shows the clematis sunstar that I mentioned ages ago as being suitable for hanging baskets - growing near the chains, small and yellow, and with those nice fluffy seed-heads afterwards....

This has very good colour and will look fantastic when filled out. Any chance of some seeds from that yellow clematis?

If you're talking to me, Earthy, thanks! I'm sure they'd do just as well up in your area - I'm just a bit south of you, down in Falkirk.
Love the avatar, btw - reminds me of the glooks that used to be my mascots for my highers!!

 OK.. I have been asked by my daughter in law to do her some winter hanging baskets..... I was wondering what you would put in them????????????????? I thought of a few alpines that would drape over the sides & would flower come the spring.. So any other ideas would be most welcome..... :D I am sure there are plenty of things I could use, but none of them spring to mind...... So all ideas welcome...... ;) BTW, she HATES Ivy....... :D
