I'm itching to do mine, but I will wait until the end of may. I don't have a greenhouse so I don't want frost to hit.

FC I used to do my mother-in-law's half baskets - put them back-to-back standing on a large pot - and tied them together with tying wire - had to be more careful with them though - father-in-law collected and still tied, they went into the back of his car with no problems.

I have two baskets finished and in the GH , but no more room in there ! I am starting to harden off my plants ( the most boring job in gardening ! ) , so hopefully late next week they can all come out onto a sheltered patio . I can then start planting up , a little late.
I have nearly finished filling baskets and containers with sieved MPC , slow release fertiliser and water gel ( does that stuff actually do anything ? ) , so thats one chore out of the way :blue thumb:

We're just about to take down our winter baskets that are full with heathers. The flowers are dying back so shall plant them outfor colour in the garden next year.

The wall troughs, full of lovely pansies, we think we shall put into the plant sale this year. We had them planted up with summer plants last year and had them near the front door but we kept forgetting to water them.

The summer baskets are in full growth now and we shall hang them up during the week (they're hardening off in the car port). Note to self - take pictures and put on here.

did two huge pots with canna lilies and toped off the soil with some seed from last year of
"my love lies bleeding" and forget me knots. If the seeds are good so be it. will be interesting.

That's an interesting concept, redstar! I know that the pot will restrict the growth of the 'love lies bleeding' (Amaranthus) but it would normally grow much too big to be in a pot with other plants - even a big one. I'd love to see the result of it being restricted. :blue thumb:

Thanks Shiney. Both packs of seeds are a year old, so we shall see. Years ago I started "my love lies bleeding" and used them somewhere, they die off naturally with the first frost in October.
It is a rare for me to start seeds anymore, just to busy, so this is the only effort I will probably make. My gardener friend, Jane gave me a bunch of Canada Lily seeds, she said "oh, just throw them in your garden". But as these are rare to find, I am going to have to deal with pots to start them. She also gave me tons of Chelome seeds, (spelling) the tall plants with purple/white spidery flower, those I just tossed in my heath and heather slope after I cleaned it out this weekend. And last night, we had a soft rain, so my pots are happy and all the new seeds.
