Awww, bless you all and thank you

Been quite a day today - the guys in my office managed to sneak around in plain sight with a birthday card (I didn't let on to anyone until I went in with the sweet treats this morning), not only everyone in our office but the entire floor all signed a card and I was barely out of the office at any stage! Bless them all, they are such lovely people.

Mrs C and Little C got me some Glenn Frey CD's (me being a massive Eagles fan, and quite bereft at his passing last year), and my lovely mum sent me £50 in garden centre vouchers!! (she knows me so well )

Upon trying to listen to my new CD's, just as wine o'clock arrived, I suffered a bereavement - my beloved AKG K550's have developed a rather nasty crackle, which my trained ear was able to identify as driver failure (no idea how, as they have never been overdriven); these headphones have been pretty much an extension of my being for a couple of years now, so you will understand the feeling of loss - I shall undertake their funeral at some point in the future.

Life without headphones is no life at all, so using £50 of Christmas money not yet spent (and the addition of 'happy birthday to me' money ), I decided to treat myself to these fellows, after considerable research (hence me being late on parade here this evening) - hopefully they live up to expectations when they arrive tomorrow.

And then, I come to see my friends here and find this lovely thread - thank you all! You already know that I think you are all the bees-knees so I won't say any more on that, but your messages mean the world to me.

Thank you, and please feel free @CanadianLori - although my current calling is transportation, my past is firmly in electronics with a specialism in audiophile products, and I retain strong links to my initial 'trade' - currently, I have a couple of units in the 'workshop' queue awaiting my attention (repairing the odd thing here and there keeps me sharper than I would be otherwise), but I confess I am not as busy as I once was (ironically, it seems this is because I do not charge for my time anymore).

Well, you were right! They are mega-comfy, have a very 'relaxed' sound and the sound quality is a vast improvement (which is saying something as the K550's are a fine pair of headphones to be fair - their main weakpoint is a lack of bass, something that the Sennheisers have well sorted)

 

The more they bed in, the better they are getting too - well worth their money, that is for sure. Just had a blast of Deep Purple's When A Blind Man Cries.. simply stunning.
