Many thanks everyone for all your most welcome birthday wishes it's so kind of you. The birthday cakes are just the job and I'll save a slice for Pooh Victoria. I feel quite humbled.

I've enjoyed my birthday as I usually do with some hard graft; I was up the mountain by 8:30 this morning digging more laurel stumps out; after three such mornings I finally got the last one out by 11:30 then it was load the car and a trip to the tip; I've just put the tools away and sorted the car out; I'm pleased because for once I've beaten Blackie although I'm now wet with sweat as I cool down.

Parties aren't our thing; we don't touch alcohol; smoke or do drugs; I've been spoiled rotten though with prezzies; our best friends from Cottingham bought me a selection of very useful tools plus chocolates and bars of chocolate being very careful it is only dark chocolate; I'm highly intolerant of dairy products; better then even the prezzies is to have such trustworthy wonderful friends.

It was our 43rd wedding anniversary last month so Bron treated me to a dual expensive prezzie for the anniversary and birthday it being a TIG welder and not a cheap one this is both AC/DC so can weld aluminium; it's a Parweld XTT 202P.



Last Monday I also collected one of these expensive welding helmets;

Bron also made me a hand made birthday card and as I opened it early this morning there was a flutter of £20 notes as they fell out. We've not had an holiday away from home for 42 years and having saved we're in a position now fully retired to really indulge in our assorted hobbies. All this would mean little to me without my Bron whom I love to bits and always will. I can't believe I'm now 72; life can be so good.

Seems odd to have our birthdays on the same day. We share the day with a well known motorcycle racer of the past as well...

I used to visit Oulton Park and watched both William David Ivy and his team mate Phil Read race motorcycles; yes Bill Ivy shared our birth date sadly being killed in a racing accident in 1969 he was born in 1942.

I always preferred the sidecar racing and kneelers had just started to be used; the Hillman Imp engine made a fine racing engine . You might remember these?
