This is my double one, no idea what it is called, but very pretty and loves me! Not a brilliant picture as only just starting to flower.

The doubles are generally known as "Plenum". Our own meadow cranesbill - G. pratense has three doubles. Plenum Album which is white, Plenum Caeruleum which is a loose violet-blue with the smaller inner petals tinged red and probably yours. The third is Plenum Violaceum which has deep violet blue flowers. There is also G. himalayense Plenum with double reddish-purple flowers and small rounded leaves.

Is this the one you mean, Poppy? Geranium phaem has deep purple or mauve flowers, but they are not very big. It likes the shade and is also known as "Mourning Widow"

That is a fantastic picture hornbeam - I am afraid I have it all over my garden and pull it out as weed - I hasten to add it is VERY useful though as it loves the hedge bottom by the stream. I cut all the heads off once it has flowered and just hope it keeps it under control.

Well you know what they say: " A weed is a plant growing in the wrong place". G.phaem is only happy in the shade so can be useful where not much else will grow. I've never known them to survive in hot, dry places. I thought that I had lost mine, but found it again growing in deepest shade behind the pond. It doesn't spread with me so it must like your soil better than mine.

stingo - I do not like white flowers in particular, but I have a nice white one with red veins and it is lovely.

I think it is Wargrave Pink
    - one of the G.oxonianum hybrids and just about the pinkest pink you can get. G.oxonianum is a cross between G. endressii and G. versicolor. These hybrids are fertile and can intercross or back cross with either parent. This is producing an ever increasing range of hybrids and so your plant might be a similar hybrid if not actually Wargrave Pink which was one of the firsts. [IMG]

I have got a nice one called "Splish Splash"
White with streaks of mauve through it.

It makes it look less boring, than just white
