If its put like that then it makes sense.

In laypersons terms, its saying that you can't know the answer if you don't know the question, as its impossible to see both at the same time.

Guess that brings us back to religion again:doh:

I do know the Vicar of Greenham Common Church. Should I invite him over here to put his point of view, he's a very nice bloke.

My interpretation of what they're saying is slightly different. What its saying is that as long as two things don't know about each other, they can do what they want, but as soon as they can see each other, they have to comply with the established universal laws.

Its saying its ok for two people to dance naked in their own gardens, but only if there's a high fence or hedge between the two, otherwise they have to behave.

Isn't that what I said, but with with the Strong & weak electromagnetic forces being the hedge?

          We're back to:
If a tree falls in a forest and there's no one to hear it, does it make a noise?
          or
What's the sound of one hand clapping?

I've known the answer to the second one when I've been on stage!

Dim you make it sound like they are trying to pull the wool over our eyes (excuse the pun)
You are not the only person who is skeptical about the origin of the universe and the big bang. Thats why they are doing the experiments in the first place! I have heard people working at the LHC on TV saying themselves they dont think the higgs boson exists thats not to say they are wasting there time they are simply trying to prove or disprove different scientific theories ranging from dark matter, the origins or the universe, parralell dimensions and who knows what else. Even if they dont find higgs boson there is still lots of other things they can be doing to keep themselves busy - its called scientific research and without it there would not even be jedi knights or C3POs Here are just some of the things they are looking at. But there website is better!

The day they switched the LHC, my mate Dave said he'd printed something out at home, lost the print out, and then found it some time later on the draining board in his kitchen.

This cartoon raises a very good point. We know that at the subatomic level, in the gap between the particles that make up an atom, spacetime as we know it doesn't exist. That's where strange things happen like a particle both existing and not existing simultaneously, or being into two places at once, or in two points in time.

So therefore, consider this. Maybe activity at the LHC now, created our universe 13.8 billion years ago. I.e. we created ourselves. So, if the boffins at CERN don't spend all their millions on research, then we might just pop out of existence, but worse, we'll pop out of history, and in fact never have even existed.

So, the chaps and chapesses at CERN have a duty not only to us lot, but to creatures everywhere and everywhen, to blow that hole on the spacetime continuum so that our universe can pop into existence minus 13.8 billion years in the future.
