Thanks Robert.:),but its actually something that anyone can do.
All you need is a bit of basic knowledge of working in PS with layers etc,and of course, what each tool does.
The original image helps though.I like the curvature you've got.It seems to give more impact.
The minster itself looks ok on my version, but the foreground.....i just gave up in the end.

    Joe.

The stone on the Minster really comes alive when the sun shines on it. Hence the deep shadows.
That is the problem. To take a picture with better EV values across the whole image would involve a dulling of the stone.
I intend to revisit this spot and fill my card.

Try it during the "Golden Hour".
This is 1 hour before sunset,or 1 hour after sunrise. The light is then not so harsh, and the colours are a beautiful warm tone.

I wasn't sure when I first saw it Robert. I tend to judge images by the DHOW index.
That for the uninitiated is Dave's would I Hang it On the Wall index:D
As it stands I'd give it 5/10, but in portrait orientation it would score 7/10. Try rotating it and see what you think.

It looks like the original photo was an abandoned beer bottle lying in undergrowth. It's an unusual subject and I think you could probably turn it into quite a powerful image without resorting to quite so much distortion.

Well done on spotting the 'photo oportunity', most folk would never have seen it!:thumb:

Thanks again for comments. You are correct the original is a beer bottle in the undegrowth, Check first picture.
The second picture I spotted while I was doing a bit of polishing today.
The usual x3 EV taken for HDR process. The HDR settngs seems to be quite easy with this picture. Over to PS6 in tiff format for a bit unsharp and sorted.

I have also been experimenting with your High pass sharperning technique as well.
What I need is some fresh stock to use. Seems like a few hours in York is required.
