    Hi guys,
Currently residing on the sunny south Dorset coast not far from Lyme Regis. The garden is divided into various bits which I am sure looked lovely when they were put in, but shrubs and plants have been allowed to grow unchecked and the whole thing is a mess. There are several reasons for me being here:
To identify the plants in the garden
To determine if they can be pruned back and if so by how much
To perhaps get a few ideas on how to improve the look instead of the breeze block paths in the back and the kerb-stone and breeze block terraces in the front...
To gain some knowledge of what will grow in this part of the UK and what will struggle.

Obviously if there is anything I can help anyone with I will be glad to :D

    J

Hijack :sofa: Big welcome to GC.
I am pleased to offer ... an ID service, lots of pruning advice, and millions of 'good ideas'
I liked your last sentence best. If you could just pop over to Kent for a few weeks, I have loads of digging, clearing and weeding to do, and I`m feeling a bout of exhaustion coming on :wub2:

          Welcome to the forum!

Being 5 hours behind I am slow to respond in the mornings and being far from your gulf stream, I don't share many planting out issues until after May. But if you ever need advice on snow shoveling to get to your garden, I am one of the forum experts on this topic :)

Thank you all for your warm welcome... I am currently de-ivying and thinning a holly tree, mowing the path (yes I know...) digging up plum trees and bay trees for the bonfire, and trying to level some ground to move the greenhouse....
Funny wee thing... grew some tomatoes in there last year - Gardeners Delight - absolutely gorgeous (tell you about the Cheriettes of Fire another time...) anyway, for a laugh I'm growing an avocado from seed, which is doing very well I must say... some weeks ago I see a tuft of shoots beside the avocado which I promptly pulled out (weeds obviously...) only to see some dried up yellow thing around the roots... a quick investigation revealed the husk of one of last year's tomatoes... I quickly replaced the little fellas and gave them some water... anyway, long story short they are ten inches tall and looking very lush - flowers should appear this week I should think... so, given that these are the product of seeds from Homebase tomato plants, will the bear fruit? :dbgrtmb:
