Lovely @Balc, thanks for sharing them. Bishops are lovely, great dark foliage too. How about some Black Beauty this year? Grow from seed and they are really small so you can fit loads in if you want. I'm growing some as they are a fabulous dark colour, almost black. Mmmm, fairly obvious that isn't it, the name gives it away. Now I'm laughing at myself!

Have admired Dahlia's over the years. And I know the variety is awesome. But, too much work, lifting in the fall, putting away in the garage. nope.

I don't lift mine @redstar. I did many, many years ago but as you say...too much work. I have adopted a really good way of protecting them over the years and so far...:fingers crossed::fingers crossed::fingers crossed: never lost one that was left in the ground. However I have lost some that were ovewinterd from pots in the greenhouse.!
Best left were they should me imo...in the ground!

I don't lift my dahlias either. I have sandy soil which helps, but I also spread a good mulch of grass clippings at the end of autumn to give some protection.

I am in zone 6, so lifting would be needed. Its ok, I have enough flowers otherwise.

Hello @Perki, found a couple of photos of Molly Raven dahlia which you had your eye on.

Photos have come out looking rather pink but the flowers are not really as pink as they look here.

45 more potted on today and another 50 or 60 to go I think. Got a present today, another dahlia. Fashion Monger so another good one for the pollinators.

How nice its got dark foliage as well :wub2: are they only sold by Sarah raven ? can't find it else where in the uk. The flower does look slightly similar to another dahlia I grow Great Silence but that has more yellow in the centre instead of purple / pink

Yes, named after Sarah Raven's daughter. She's more expensive that Peter Nyssen but if you can't get from anywhere else, has to be done. Has lovely dark foliage and the stems are a dark purple as well. It is a beauty. Got another one this year and I intend to take some cuttings too. Just looked at Great Silence, beautiful flower, slightly paler isn't it. I have ordered 2 more from Sarah Raven this year, Rosie Raven and Abigail (anemone types). Trying not to get any more as I have now lost count of how many new ones I have. Boxes full and a very full greenhouse.
