    For heating it really depends what you have in there. I keep mine just frost free to keep my tender ornamentals (bananas, brugmansias, etc) ticking over. I use bubble wrap for insulation otherwise it gets expensive losing heat through a single pane of glass.

    My bigger greenhouse doesn't get heated, I can grow winter lettuce and spinach in there, although they don't really grow much because of low light levels. They provide pickings of salad leaves when there isn't much else like that in the veg patch.

    I don't heat my greenhouse, but it is built on a mass of hardcore and gravel and stays pretty much above 0°C.
    It's main purpose is to keep dormant plants dry, as with me it's winter wet that does the most harm.

      I had a tubular heater but they dont really distribute the heat very well, and I think they actually cost more to run than a fan heater, the most important part is the thermostat, a good one will save you money, a bad one will cost money
