Make sure you read any instructions or any other documention that comes with it, before you do anything though. They aren't cheap . I would rather you did that than follow anything that I have said.

Hi NG I've been in a hospital most of the day with my FIL who is having a lung operation next week, so I have only just seen your message.

TBH it mentioned all the things I had noticed other than the motor running on whilst in viewing mode.

I am just now waiting for confirmation that a replacement is being sent and once received I am now that bit wiser thanks to your help

 

My replacement lens has arrived and yes it still has the strange little rattle however the motor does not run on when in view mode... so glad that I made the decision to send it back.

Thanks to @NorthantsGeezer for his help and great read ups and one person who I can't forget to give a big to is @wiseowl who gave me a lot of help in choosing a fantastic range of lenses which are turning out to be amazing... so thank you both for your help, very much appreciated

I joined a photography club this week...... I felt like a school girl and they all looked at me as if I was in the wrong place.... nice meeting though... I think they think I am younger than I am

 

That can only be a good thing . People don't believe that I am in my 50's, but I think they are just being polite . I am sure that isn't the case with you though

 

Haaahaaaa seems we are in the same boat... however these guys must have been 20-30 years older lol..... but very kind... and made me feel very welcome

 

I did learn about how they photographed the solar eclipse in Java in 1983 though!

 

Is this when they were your age?
