Hello everyone only been to see two movies in the past week they are as follows
    *************************************************

Alvin And The Chipmunks (U)(91 mins)

For those of you who don't know The Chipmunks they are a very cute and sometimes naughty trio they are as follows Simon (the brains), Theodore (the hungry one) and their leader Alvin it was a hit cartoon show when my boys were growing-up but it's kind of strange how they both didn't want to see it on the big screen.

For this movie the trio have been brought to life via CGI and is action packed full of fun for both the little ones and the bigs ones alike.

The movie is about down on his luck song writer Dave Seville he can't get anyone interested in his music and he is so fed up that he trashes his music gear and throws it outside. The naughty trio enters Dave's life and he is amazed that they can sing as well as talk and in no time at all the Chipmunks are living it up like mega stars and they even have time to carry on being naughty!

Bob and I took our little four year old niece Holly with us to see this movie and she loved it although she did say it wasn't better than The Wizard Of Oz or Billy Madison but then she is always watching one or the other at our house!

A good safe movie to take the kids to and I'm pretty sure you big'uns will get a giggle or two out of it as well...try listening to Daniel Powter's Had A Bad Day chipmunk style without smiling I dare you! Rated 8/10
    ********************************************************
    P.S. I Love You. (12A) (125 mins)

Sweethearts Holly and Jerry were soul mates they couldn't be angry with one another for long and Jerry always made Holly smile. Fate was cruel to them Jerry died leaving a devastated Holly but even in death Jerry was there for Holly leading her to a future although without him one where she could find herself again and start living once more.

I'll not give the game away how Jerry leads Holly on after his death you will have to see it yourself for that! [IMG]

A wonderful idea that captures your heart strings almost like having a guardian angel showing you the way through the darkest night, I really liked it and I even managed not to cry although tears were welling up they did not fall!
A good weepie best not seen without the aid of a hanky. 8/10.

Hello movies fans below is what I have seen over the last week.

    *****************************************************
    St.Trinian's (12A) (101 mins)

The school is in debt and the headmistress's former college sweetheart (who just happens to be the Education Minister) wants to shut the school down. The girls have to hatch a plot to save their school.

This film brings the classic infamous girl's school upto date they even have goths now!

Rupert Everett plays the duel roles of Miss.Fritton the headmistress and that of her naughty brother which is the parts that Alistair Sim played so very well in the classic black and white movies of long ago.

Colin Firth plays the love interest and even re-enacts his wet shirt look in one sceen.

Now I was really looking forward to seeing this movie and had hoped that it would be a cracking film but sadly it was not. Although Rupert Everett does play the headmistress wonderful well and looked very much like the Duchess of Cornwall strange how the producers of this film changed Miss.Fritton from Millicent (in Sim's day) to Camilla. 6/10

    ********************************************************
Balls Of Fury (12a) (90 mins)

A washed up former child Ping-pong champion Randy is forced from his dead end gigs to try his luck in another big tournament by the FBI but Randy has never play in a big match since his father was hacked to death for not paying a gambling debt, has he still got the knack?

Well the trailers looked very silly but really fun so I thought we would give it a go sadly I really shouldn't have bothered. It's one of those fims that should have been really funny but it was very hard to even titter and very dull. One to miss I think 2/10

    *******************************************************
    Charlie Wilson's War (15) (102 mins)

Starring Tom Hanks as the title man and also Julia Roberts this film is based on a true story and is how Charlie with the aid of his lady friend Joanna Herring (Roberts) goes about raising money to fund the arming of the Afghan freedom fighters in Afghanistan against the dreaded vast Soviet army.

Should have been good but was lacking something which I just can't put my finger on it, even seeing Hank's bare bottom didn't make it any better for me. 7/10
    ***************************************************
I was going to see 'Dan in real life' but I don't think I will as the reviews for the film have been very bad indeed! Helen.xxx.

Another week another film here's the latest!

    ******************************************************
Walk Hard The Dewey Cox Story (15) (96mins)

A very tongue-in-cheek movie that follows the story of Dewey Cox the man the legend, its a spoof based on many a rock star's life story.

Dewey is a womaniser and a drug user thanks to his band's drummer and he start's his epic road to stardom at the tender age of 14 or is it 15? I can't remember which and to prove just how tongue-in-cheek this movie is the actor who plays Dewey (John C. Reilly)is in his early forties and yet plays Dewey as a teenager with no effects!

If any of you remember the song from Dr.Hook 'If I said you had a beautiful body' with it's double meanings then in this movie you will be in for an even saucier double meaning song which should make you giggle.

There's one line that keeps cropping up all through the movie and each time you hear it it makes you laugh even more harder than the last time.....I'm not giving the game away all I'll say it that Dewey's dad says the classic line!

Loads of ups and downs in this movie but it keeps on going although not always flowing quite so easy in places, but generaly a pretty good film and well worth the ticket price! 9/10

No Country For Old Men (15) (122 mins)

A thriller killer....I ruthless killer is tracking down a bag full of money and killing everyone who crosses his path, it's Sheriff Bell's (played by the wonderful Tommy Lee Jones) job to find out why all this is happening in his quiet sleepy little town.

The trailers looked really great for this film sadly it was incredibly bad. It was far too long had no flow to it and it seemed in places as if a blind person had done editing on it even Tommy Lee Jones's voice over didn't help it.

As soon as the credits rolled on to the screen the lights went up pretty quick something that has not happen to us before. People were in a drunken state not knowing what to do most were caught off guard, the rest of us made a mad dash to get out of the cinema!

Bob was very vocal walking down the hallway saying "If I had to pay to see that movie I would demand my money back" he even started a conversation with a dear old gentleman who agreed with him just how bad the movie was!

Sadly I can't rate this film minus as that is so very childish but I can rate it 0/10 so very bad indeed!

Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (15) (94 mins)

Most of you will surely know by now what life forms are involved in this movie after all the two have been around for quite some time!

This story starts where the last movie ended the dead Predator was collected from earth by a scout ship only problem was it took with it an Alien embedded in his stomache!

To cut a long story short the Alien wipes out all but one Predator meanwhile the ship crashes to earth and it is once again th Predator's job to kill all the Aliens only time time he has to deal with the Alien/Predator hybrid as well.

The poor humans in the Colorado town are caught up in the middle of this deadly battle and once again the Predator ends up killing quite a few humans along the way. The Predator must have been watching CSI as it even tries covering up the evidence with some liquid that destroys the deadly mess that the Alien leaves!

This movie would have been so much better if only it had been shot in the daytime or even early evening as the viewers had to rely on the light glimmering off both the Aliens and Predator just to be able to 'see' the creatures some what...it was an apauling penny pinching trick to play on the viewers!

Other than that the movie was a gory blood fest as one would hope for. 7/10 would have been higher if the Alien and Predator were visually better.

    Sweeney Todd (18) (116 mins)

Another classic tale brought to life by Tim Burton.

Johnny Depp plays Benjamin Barker a blissfully happy married barber of Fleet Street who's idyllic life is robbed from him when his beautiful wife Lucy attracts the attention of the local lust-driven judge played by Alan Rickman.

The judge deports Barker to Australia only for him to return many years later for revenge under the new name of Sweeney Todd.

Sweeney helps Mrs Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) who owns the pie shop under Sweeney's barber shop and just happens to sell the worst pies in London by hacking his way into suppling Lovett with meat for her infamous pies!

For those of your that are acquainted with the works of Tim Burton you will know before I tell you that this is a very 'dark' movie plus this one has an added bonus of being a musical which may not be to everyone's taste.

I for one really enjoyed it Bob didn't but Harry must have done because he admitted to watching the songs again via You tube!
10/10 but watch out for the blood it gushes everywhere. :D

    *************************************************

In The Valley Of Elah (15) (121 mins)

Hank Deerfield (Tommy Lee Jones) is a retired MP and was so very proud when both his sons followed him into the services but fate wasn't kind to Hank and his embittered wife their eldest son was killed in an air crash and now his younger son is missing.... what can he do?

Hank guides a local police detective Emily Sanders (Charlize Theron)to see the clues when no one notices them and stears her into finding out just what has happened to his son.

The trailers for this film left you so confused how this story would go and it turns out not quite as you would expect, don't get me wrong it's not a bad film just a little slow in places and kind of long winded that leaves Hank in a confused but remarkable forgiving state. 7/10

    Morning all.

I year has passed since I opened my 'golden ticket' movie pass and it's going up to £11.99 in April from £10.99 but as most of you know I do abuse the pass as often as I can sometimes as many as four movies a week, so it's a bargain price when the normal standard price for an adult is £6.40 a movie!

With the children being on holiday we haven't been to the movies this week although we did manage to catch one last Friday see below.
    *************************************************

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets (PG) (124mins)

Nicolas Cage is back playing Benjamin Gates and this time it's a hunt to clear his family's name after Benjamin's great-great grandfather is implicated as a key conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

This time his estranged mum joins the hunt as only she can read some of the clues, as you can imagine things don't go too smoothly between Ben's mum and dad.

Helen Mirren joins the cast to play Ben's mum and our english rose plays her role very well indeed but then again when doesn't she.

This movie is full of twists and turns as one would expect from seeing the first film.

These type of movies always make me think of that classic movie from 1985 'The Goonies' where is a bunch of kids follow clues to find lost treasure.....now that was a great film too!

Hardly any slow spots in this movie, you don't feel like you have been sat too long in your seat which is a really good thing if you have young ones with you!

It's a movie for all the family and one to watch. 9/10.Hel.xxx.

Hi all another two films up for review.
    *************************************************
Be Kind Rewind (12a) (100 mins)

A tale about a small time video store called Be Kind Rewind that promises One movie, One day for One buck by the store owner played by Danny Glover.

The store is on a downward slide video is now no longer needed and the council want to bull doze the store to make way for an apartment block unless the much needed repairs are made within 60 days.

The owner goes on a spying trip to check other stores out and see where he's going wrong and leaves his store in the not so capable hands of Mike with strict instructions not to let Mike's best pal Jerry (Jack Black) in the store while he's away.

Jerry is a little crazy to say the least he lives on his business site (which is a scr*p yard) in a trailer right next door to a local power plant. Jerry is convinced that the power plant is upto no good and trys to sabotage it needless to say it all goes wrong and after so many vaults Jerry is left magnetized.

Jerry wipes all of the stores videos and poor old Mike has to come up with a plan to recover the wiped films. The guys both decide to play-act as many movies as they can and surprisely they are a huge hit with the movie watching neighbour.

I'm a huge fan of Jack Black's and I thought I would love it without a doubt the trailers looked great but boy was I so very wrong ...... it's really appalling 100 minutes of mind numbing boredom no flow and not funny at all.

I would not recommend this film at all I think you would have more fun watching paint dry. A very dissappointing 0/10.
    **************************************************

    Jumper (12a) (96 mins)

Davey (played by Hayden Christensen) is a trouble teenager he lives alone with his dad after they were both abandoned by Davey's mum when he was five.

Davey's dad has a drink problem and life at home is far from good. One night Davey's bully of a father threatens Davey so the poor lad locks his room only for his father to knock the door in and that's when Davey discovers by accident that he can 'jump' to another location whenever he likes in fact anyway in the world!

He finds out that there has always been 'Jumpers' throughout history and also the jumpers sworn enemies the Paladins whose job is to destory the 'Jumpers' at all cost.

The Paladins led by Cox (Sam.L.Jackson) can sense where a jumper is and they use their extensive weapons to trap and kill as many jumpers as they can.

I wasn't too keen about seeing this movie as the reviews I had seen didn't look too good although the trailers did and it was becasue of the trailers that I went to see this film and I'm glad I did.

It has a good story line and there is a pretty good flow all the way through the movie, some screens are a little fast but then even that's not too hard to follow.

A good all round film 8/10.Hel.xxx.

Hello all another week another lot of films here are a couple I'ave seen since the last time I was on here....enjoy!
    ***************************************************
    WAZ (18) (104 mins)

    A killer thriller!

A downbeaten cop detective Eddie Argo (played by Stellan Skarsgard i.e 'Bootstrap' Bill Turner, Orlando Blooms character's father in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies)plays by the book he knows all the bad boys in his area and has to deal with sorting out their woes as well as having to take on a rookie partner.

Things start to heat up when an old crime comes back to haunt Eddie, it seems gang members that were involved with the brutal torture of a young woman and the death of her mother have been turning up in pairs...stranger still is that due to one witness being beaten up by one of Eddie's work mates the old crime never went to court and all was set free.

This new crime wave not only has the link to the past case but one of each victim has a black burn mark on one finger and the word WAZ carved into their bodies.

Finally it comes to pass that the serial killer is the young woman victim from the original old crime and we learn that when she was getting tortured by the gang she was given an option...the pain will stop if she gives the gang her permission to shoot the one she love her own mother!

She hooks both her victims upto a pair of electric type chairs tortures one in one chair while the other victim is strapped to another one which is in turn hooked to some nasty vaults and the switch is on the tortured victim's chair......she gives them the choice just like they did to her.......if you want the pain to stop flick the switch.

Sadly all flick the switch even a drug addict mother who's four year old child is in the other chair...thankfully it doesn't show that happening.

At the end who should end in the chair but good old Eddie and the witness that crashed the old crime in the first place with getting beaten up.

No one before passed the test of dying to save their true love that is until Eddie he endures terrible pain just so his lover may live and asks the killer to let him die as he can not endure life without his lover and so he gets his wish.

I have to say the only reason why I gave the plot away is because it's such a low budget film I don't think most cinema's will show it.

It's a pretty good film very C.S.I.ish and surprisely not too gory, I'm sure that had more money been spent on this film it would have been a money making film. Sadly because of the dodgy camera work and poor quality of the film I can only give it 7/10
    **************************************************

    Rambo (18) (91 mins)

Sylvester Stallone is back and although Rambo is now so much older he is still one mean butt kicking force to mess with!

The war is over but John Rambo didn't fit in on his last trip home some 15 years or so ago and he has been passing his time as a fisherman/snake catcher in Thailand.

A group of aid workers approach him to ask if he would take them up river to Burma and at first he doesn't want to know but is talked into it by the fair headed Sarah (Julie Benz - Darla from the Angel series and Rita from Dexter)

Things don't go so well for the group on the boat ride as Rambo has to kill a few nasty guys along the way, the group are shocked how he behaves so Rambo leaves them to their work in a little villiage only for him to hear no one has heard of the group for 10 days or so.....only Rambo can save the group.

If you're a fan of blood, gore and pure gun totting action you are bound to really like this film there are some amazing shots and I don't just mean the scenery!

It may seem a little hammy at times but then it's quite rare for any action film to not have a little pork in it now and again.

One for the boys and maybe for the girls too be it a little toe curling in some scenes! 10/10

I'm sure you will enjoy it Ste it's a great film and one I was not looking forward in seeing as I have to confess I'm not overly keen on old Sly's films....so it came as a huge surprise to everyone and myself included that I really enjoyed it, I was singing its praises all day long!

There are at least two shots that were a bit of a c*ck-up by the editing staff Bob claims there is one with the boat landing shot although I wasn't sure of it myself and then the other one is half where through the big battle scene John Rambo manages to change from his big old baggy t-shirt for a much tighter fitting top.......but if you go and see it you will have to let me know if there are more! Morning all here's the lastest offering.

    *************************************************

The Bank Job (15) (111 mins)

Set in the 70's this film is based on a true story of a bank raid that happened in London's Baker Street. A group of thieves tunnel into a bank's vault and loots the safe deposit boxes of cash and jewellery worth millions of pounds.

Terry (Jason Statham) is a small time crook and only takes up the offer of getting together a gang of his mates to do the job as he needs the money to pay off a debt otherwise bang goes his knee caps!

Unknown to the wayward robbers the real reason the bank job has to happen is because there is a royal connection. The government hands are tied by activist and drug smuggler Michael X who holds in one of the safe deposit boxes some very saucy pictures of a wayward royal princess.

A little gory in places but a nice steady flow although could have been more 70's looking.8/10.
