Hemerocallis or day lily

    Thanks Simbad for the info. I thought we were badly missing out, as I was not aware that any Hemerocallis in this country flowered for anything approaching those that I read about in the States. But you have confirmed we are missing out on the climate rather than the varieties.

    I am a great supporter of long flowering plants - so I would love to know of any that really do flower for longer than average. If they flower for that long in USA - do they exhaust themselves and die?

    I have had both Salvia splendens (the 5 foot species) and Salvia coccinea in flower for 12 continuous months. But then they have had it. Even though they are perennials, albeit tender ones.
