    Hi Tracy,

Bay Laurel is not often grown from seed in cultivation because it requires a long period of stratification (a mixture of prolonged cold and heat) to break it's natural dormancy.

It is easier to propagate from natural suckers or layering, cuttings are an option but I am led to believe that they have a low success rate.

I picked up my small Bay tree for 50p at a carboot which I believe was just a potted up sucker :)

As expected my Basil has all come up like cress within 2-3 days, all four types I sowed but I only took snaps of 'Genovese' & 'Dark Opal'

Basil grows incredibly well under growlights

And then there's no need to ever buy Parsley seed ever again, I grow both curly and flat leaf (AKA Italian).

But if it does, you'll get your free saved seeds even earlier.

I've been sowing loads that I got for 20p/pkt, find them best sown in a heated propagator and will tolerate being under lights for a while before hardening off in an unheated polytunnel.

Depends where you put it. In open ground, with rich, moisture retentive soil, in part shade, it does really well.

Also, I noticed parsley in your list. Parsley does better in open ground too, where it will grow to about 3ft or more and very bushy. It doesn't like being in a pot because it likes to grow a very deep tap root.

Just bought some Kaffir Lime seed on eBay for a couple of pounds so that will go nicely with my Lemon Grass, now I just need to find some Galangal and I can have some Thai Green Curry
