Hibiscus rosa-sinensis

One of my favourites, the Candy Floss Pink ...

 

That's a pretty coloured one @Victoria, they really are lovely flowers ...

 

Yes Michael. Shame they only last for a day ... but the newer hybrids can bloom for three days.

Thank you Michael, yes, it is. They all have their uniqueness and sometimes difficult to capture.

 

My rarest beauty which has taken three and a half years to get its first bloom from a plug plant (but is reputedly the fastest growing of all Hibiscus) ...

'Albo Lacinatus' is considered to have been one of the very earliest of the hibiscus hybrids. Some speculate that it could have been a filial 1 or 2 (first or second generation) cross between the Hawaiian species 'Hibiscus arnottianus' and the Malagasy species 'Hibiscus schizopetalus.'




I will try to get a photo this evening when hopefully she is fully open.

Interesting to read about the Albo-lactinatus, and it's such a beautiful flower ...

The yellow one is very bright. I didn't know they lasted such a short time.

Now that it's started flowering @Victoria it may go from strength to strength

 

Yesterday noon and then last evening ... I love the raggedy edges ...



... and it's gone this morning!

 

Now here is a puzzlement. Below is April (I call here because I was given it in April 2022) taken in September 2023 ...



Here is her bud yesterday (7 February) there were two same colour but one committed suicide ..


... and here she is today in all her Orange glory! ...


Has she picked up genetics from the Orange or Red ones nearby?

 

It would only be that if she was from seed of the others.
But not sure why the change in colour, might be a mutation.
