I will take as many pictures as I can, and post accordingly...

@JWK, @Loki, I bought some turmeric root from a well known somewhat posh-end supermarket, and made sure they're good quality; plump and firm (no jokes please, this is a family show....) I laid them on some good-quality compost, then half covered them. Last year I had a good crop, but to be honest this year, with our house move and various other hurdles, I didn't plant them as early as I would have liked, so they haven't sprouted yet, but I'm sure they shall. The weather has been misbehaving, of course. as it habitually will.... so putting them outside to enjoy the summer sunshine is a bit hit-and-miss....

I posted what I did just above your comment, @Redwing ...

I am also an avid houseplant lover, and nearly every windowsill in my home os crammed with houseplants. Given that I have large windows facing East, South and West, you can imagine the light I get... so appropriate plants adorn said windowsills...
My daughter gave me a Kokedama bonsai three years ago, and it's absolutely thriving... I tend to keep it outside all year round now....

But I also made my own...
            An ivy and a cotoneaster...

I have a south-facing window-sill adorned with rescued and salvaged phalaenopsis orchids... They seem to absolutely love the light, but they are shielded from the worst of the sun, by a net curtain...
I'll supply more photos of my beloved plants - both in and outdoor - as we go...
