I don't like the wind either, like Louise we're on the top of a hill and its caused lots of damage in the past, we had a weather vain put up on the roof in the summer didn't last long took off the first strong wind we had, glad I wasn't underneath when it fell:phew:.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Ziggy, I thought you were going to come up with some sort of scientific explanation for me. :)

        Oh, ok,

Wind causes constant pressure changes which affect our balance mechanisms, thereby releasing adrenaline, putting our bodies on a high state of alert (fight or flight)

Too much adrenaline will also make you need the loo. It also destroys the nicoteen in the system which is why you wake up needing a smoke in the middle of a tornado.

Like Trunky said, our recent ancestors lead an arbourial life & needed to know when they were going to be shaken out of a tree or hit by a falling branch.

I got woken up during the 1987 hurricaine when the upstairs window was being battered by branches the size of a limb. I did the right thing to do at the time & pulled the duvet over my head.

When I woke in the morning & looked out of the window I thought the bomb had dropped, houses all over the valley with trees through them, you couldn't see the roads for debris.

Everyone came out on the streets & just started sawing up the fallen trees. I saw one of my punk mates (also called Trunky) hanging out of a big wrecking truck shouting, "Great innit, anarchy's broken out"

Thanks for that Ziggy, but it wasn't the sort of explanation I was expecting. :heehee:
