Hill fog is the same thing but in reverse. It just depends on whether the cold layer is above or below the warmer layer and where the dampness/humidity is.

    Either way, drive slowly. :)

Don't leave us hanging in suspenders, Sandy...what is it? And what's the technical definition of steam?

Yes, :blue thumb: there are lots of words that are now used instead of the original version of them :old:. There was nothing wrong with using words such as jalousie. (No, it's nothing to do with the song 'Jealousy' :heehee:)

Technically, steam is water in gas phase, and therefore, invisible. Although the term is used today, an engineer would normally consider visible vapours coming from water as being steam that had lost energy.

@noisette47 I had to tell you to get you out of your suspenders!:snorky:

The same, but I don't think it has been used for decades. :noidea:

Here we go, harping back to skool days, but I always remember being told in science class that when a kettle boils the bit you cant see, nearest the spout, is water vapour, as it condenses, slightly further from the spout, it becomes steam.
So again not sure if that is right.

I do find it worrying when you finish a post with, "I might be talking rubbish".
And you get 4 people agreeing and one thinking it's funny.:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I have a job to see the kettle first thing, let alone the finer points of what's coming out the spout! I was just agreeing with the bit about low cloud @pete! Honestly....:kitty chris:

I kind if thought the French word for Louvre might be Louvre, it sounds French to me.
I thought it was an art gallery?
