Riviera Travel @shiney. I didn't reply because I couldn't find this thread again. Just found it by accident.

Last day of this cruise up the Danube today. It has been great apart from the awful bout of D&V that started on Monday afternoon. I was in bed all day yesterday, Tuesday. That was the day we were visiting Vienna so I missed it, so disappointed. I am a lot better now, Wednesday, so I was able to do the guided tour in Budapest. Some other passengers have been ill too, yet the ship is beautifully clean.

Apart from that, I can really recommend this river cruise and the guides are excellent. I've posted a lot of photos on the "Wakey Wakey" thread.

          Wish you better @Busy-Lizzie

The Danube cruise is always a very good one and Riviera are one of the better companies.

River cruises are the only type of cruise I would even consider. I'm actually put off by the Riviera Travel adverts. The awfully 'upper crust' accent of the voice over and the pompous looking guy with the puffed out chest, in the check jacket, who looks as if he would bray rather than a normal laugh doesn't present them in a very positive light to me. I actually turn the sound off when the voiceover woman starts. I just wonder where the 'Warld' is.

Ocean cruises are very good as well but, as with most things, you need to pick the right ones. Our next one will be an ocean cruise :blue thumb:

I'm glad someone else has spotted that stupid voice, there seems to be a trend to almost sing rather than talk normally on these ads.

Obviously each to their own, but there's no way I would do an ocean cruise. The thought of being stuck with people in close proximity for days on end is my idea of hell. I realise cruise ships vary in size but the latest generation is beyond belief.

Those enormous ships are certainly not the type I would go on but they suit some people and work out much cheaper. They are more like an upmarket version of a holiday camp. They are perfect for families and younger people.

The ships we travel on are more comfortable, very little noise (I don't like noise) and not at all crowded - and no children :heehee:.

I assume an ocean cruise is not just being stuck on a ship, often a new stop each day.
                    It's just salty water.
