Hi Kathy,we went to Wight two years ago {7th time I think it was} and it was so hot,up in the 30c's that we could only leave the van for short periods of time each morning. When we used to get out of our air conditioned car the heat used to just hit us,it was unbearable

Kandyfloss, is that just outside Keswick ? Looks a bit like the site I stayed at, overlooking Derwent Water. Cheers...freddy.

Hi Kandyfloss. I guess it was maybe 5 years ago, staying in our tourer, for about a week. Sounds like you were in the same spot as me (us), a bit of a drag up the hill. When walking back from the block one night, I happened to look up, and there to my surprise, was a red squirrel. I could have almost reached out and touched him, he was that close. I`ve stayed in a few sites in the area, and that`s one of the better ones, in terms of location. The C&C Club have a site right on the waters edge(Derwent)which is pretty good but a bit busy for my liking. We went last year staying at a `CL`(farm) just off the road between Keswick and Ambleside, fabulous spot. Just one thing spoiled it, THE RAIN !! I think it rained EVERY day for the whole week :( Ah well, the tourer is now a thing of the past, but it served me well, we even took it to France which was a real treat. Anyway, I hope the weather is kind to you ;) Cheers...freddy.

Hi Freddy,We were on pitch 'F' so there was just three of us on our row.I was shocked at the drag up the hill because I had been suffering from back problems all year so didn't know about the hill.It was really nice though to be able to stop on the way up to admire the views.

Yes,we saw the Red Squirrel but never managed to get a photo of it.I took seed and nuts with me and a metal holder for the nuts and managed to get a Nuthatch to feed on them as well as loads of other birds.

We are in the CC club and a few years ago stayed on the Park Coppice site, which my hubby found a bit dark.

We had fantastic weather last September. If we had gone in July when we were supposed to go we would have got soaked.

We are satying at the top this year when we go so won't have that long drag.

If you have never been I can reccomend the Isle Of White for scenery, walking and wildlife.Good luck wherever you go this year [IMG]

Hi again Kandyfloss. It was in july that we went :( It was a shame because I love `the lakes`, been there several times now, but it was really ruined by the weather. I also have been to Park Coppice and like you said, it`s a bit dark there. I forget now when that was, but it was in june, and as luck would have it, it turned out as one of the wettest junes on record. I got so fed up with it, we left early, but not before some real nice walks. I`ve been to the IOW a few times also. Last time we stayed at The Orchards, pleasant enough I guess. In more recent times I was preferring to stay on CL`s, I find them more relaxing and peaceful. As for this year we`re not sure what we`re doing. The plan was to go to Switzerland but recent events have put that plan on hold, but for sure we`ll get away somewhere, somewhere with sunshine :D Cheers...freddy.
