Thanks, wrote it down on my notes. So here is my schedule. Edinburgh--land August 11 in the morning, (hope I slept on plane) go to my hotel, forgot the name of the first one but it is on Corstorphine Road (recall is a lower number, like 18, or 15) then move to the tour guide hotel on the 12th its the Holiday Inn, same road just down further I gather from the number, too far to walk, so taxie it, staying there 2 nights. Then off to Inverness, for one night, then to Thurso, for two nights (that will be Aug. 15 and 16. Then to Broadford, for one night, then Ballachulish for one night (August 18) then to Glasgow for last night August 19 (holiday Inn again) Flying out, I believe like 2PM on the 20th.
This is with a tour group, so they have things planned that we are to see. But their seems to be offered only 14 meals, so I can explore that area also, which is good. Hope I can sleep on all these one night stops.

@redstar Edinburgh Zoo is on the same road (134 Corstophine Road) and the Holiday Inn you are going to be staying at is right next door to the Zoo. They have a Facebook page (Edinburgh Zoo) and the website is www.edinburghzoo.org.uk if you want to have a look:smile:

@strongylodon Buxton is a really nice place to visit especially the Monsal Dale Trail,Tissington Trail and the Goyt Valley. You will find plenty to do and the different trails I have mentioned are old railway lines that have now been made good with lighting in the reopened tunnels so is good for walkers and cyclists.Hope you have a great time with good weather.:dbgrtmb:

Thanks @Kandy . I have planned to get in one day ahead to get used to the time change. So the actual group will be one later. So will have time to do the zoo. @strongylodon , will check out that place, if it is close to where I am at, then will see about going. have to check out tripadvisor for possible eating places if there are gaps, want local stuff.

The first place I am staying is Murrayfield hotel, its number 18 on that road. wonder how long a walk from 18 to 134. I am not shy for a mile if that is all it is.

Plus there is Chatsworth House Estate and gardens at nearby Baslow which once visited and seen is never forgotten. There are so many places to see and visit as the UK is a treasure trove that you couldn't cover in a lifetime:snorky:

21 minute walk from my first hotel to the second one. not bad, I can do that. Google Maps has it all.
and see on the map how the zoo is really close to the Holiday Inn. got my walking shoes. Looking forward to hearing the accents.

Its a pity your tour doesn't include Anglesey Redstar. The coastline here is amazing, as is all the wildlife.:)

there could be a next time. I would have done it on my own, except the driving changes, so not secure about that.

@redstar - you are in my old stomping ground there - my mum lives on the other side of Edinburgh. The city itself is lovely - so much nicer than London!

If you get a chance, I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the castle, followed by a wander down the Royal Mile - about half way down, there is the Museum of Childhood which is well worth a visit (free as well if my memory serves); also worth a visit, and not all that far from the castle is the Royal Yacht Britannia at Leith - this was the Queen's very own vessel, which you can now take a tour around.

If you have any questions, before or during your trip, please do not hesitate to drop me a PM. :blue thumb:
